Gig Description

Glastonbury just throws up these little gems.

This was another Glastonbury wash out year with a major weather incident at 5am on the Friday morning of the festival.

The entire site was a complete mud bath. There was news coverage of a canoeist paddling around tents at the lowest part of the site where much of the rain had collected!

Needless to say many peoples Glastonbury ended before the first band took to the stage, completely tased out of their tents.

Having discovered The Beat were playing a set I had to watch them. Unfortunately the West Coast Dance Tent was completely the other side of the site to where we were and anyone who has been to Glastonbury will appreciate, it is a small city.

We set off tramping through the thick glutenous mud. My wife by my side sobbing as she was in the early stages of pregnancy and suffering from morning sickness. "Why are we even here?" was a quote I recall. Gone the excitement of booking tickets months prior.

Eventually we made it.

I left Kaz at the edge of the tent sat in her camping chair and made my way to the front of the stage.

The band came on and the half full tent went mental. Ranking Roger now backed up by his son Ranking Junior raced around the stage while belting out tune after tune. The set was amazing and took me right back to my miss spent youth.

When the gig was over I guilty returned to my wife expecting a massive bollocking for leaving her sat there whilst I was enjoying myself. I was met with a massive smile as Kaz had never seen the Beat before and was equally as blown away by them and had been jumping about where I had left her.

A good result I would say.
